(Istiophorus platypterus) The Sail Fish can jump oustside the water to up to 6 feet high. Lives in the gulf of Mexico and in the pacific ocean. In short distances, the metalic blue sail fish is probably the fastest fish on the sea. They grow more than four feet in a single year. Can reach a speed up to 60 knots thanks to it's hidrodinamic and strong body. Has a rigid tail shaped like a half moon, ideal for speed, and it's high dorsal fin or "sail", cuts the water like a knife. It feeds on the surface or at mid-depths on smaller pelagic fishes and squid and lays it's eggs in open water. Fishing Charters in Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo, guarantee a particularly exciting experience since there is a relaxing atmosphere among the fishing community, nice weather and abbundance of species. The deep sea fishing species are Sailfish, Blue & Black Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, and Dorado and the list of inshore species includes Roosterfish, Red Snapper, Grouper, Spanish Mackerel, and Yellowtail Jacks. |
